Oggcamp Liverpool and Network upgrade

This weekend was  oggcamp at Liverpool http://oggcamp.org/, I didn’t go, but took the opportunity to finish the network upgrade at Ripon road.

A while back, the ISP almost doubled my broadband speed which now runs between 13 and 15 M download.

I have replaced the old wireless G router with a newer wireless N type which seems to have improved the wireless speed. Last time I tried to watch video over wireless, it couldn’t handle it, now it can.

A smoothwall firewall is now installed, running Snort intrusion detection, Squid proxy and pop email scanning. The network has also been split into 3 separate segment for different user groups and parts of the building.
