LUG (Blackpool Makerspace) 17.5.14

Mike,  Les, ,Ollie, Arran, Joe, Elizabeth, Kieran

Les worked with Kieran on a robot project. Together they built a robot using an add-on board for the Raspberry Pi called pibrella.

Ollie wrote up the Makerspace blogs for the previous 2 meetings and was also using Linux Mint in a virtual machine to explore the new features and updates in the Release Candidate for Mint 17.  Also had a discussion with Mike regarding the progression of Linux over the years and Hardware featured in the latest edition of Linux Format.

Joe has been doing programming challenges using the site codeeval.

Elizabeth wanted to know (in detail) how to download & install a Linux OS (onto a pen drive) from scratch.  Arran mentored & stages of the procedure were noted & saved in text editor.  Simple step by step instructions were wanted and achieved – various stages leading to active group discussion at times.

Arran was mentor to Elizabeth (with huge thanks & appreciation!).

Mike hosted & also contributed info, discussion & advice.
